Funny Farm of Grant
Hello, Sweetwater. Another autumn has fallen and the colors have
definitely changed. But my raised beds have been going well and there’s
some stuff to harvest for a few weeks, fingers crossed! There’s not a
lot as I had to replant and it hasn’t been 70f recently, so I will bring
what I find. Unfortunately I can’t offer preorders as I have a need to
share what I harvest. There should be another harvest next week and
maybe one more, depending on how much growth we get. I did find some
Swiss chard that looks really good and will bring what I have of that also.
Jim has been busy in the woodshop too. If you’ve started thinking
holiday season and gifts, he’s able to make cutting boards or other
things if you’re interested.
Shallots
Onions, yellow
Garlic
Fennel fronds
Low sugar jelly in many flavors, all from our farm. On sale this week 3
jars of your choice for $15
Blackberry, Elderberry/blackberry, Apple, Kiwi, Kiwi/crab apple, Wild
grape, Mixed Wildberry, Elderberry and
Blueberry from a source that I’ve used for 20+ years.
Thanks again!
Barb

Take care,
Julie

The Pasturage of Montague
Thank you to all the intrepid souls that came up last Sunday despite the threat of rain and visited with our turkeys. I enjoyed myself, and I hope you did, too. Then we got a reasonable amount of rain on Tuesday, about 2″ that gently fell over the course of 24 hours. We are only about 20 miles north of North Muskegon where they got over ten inches, possibly into the feet, of rain!!!! I feel for all the folk dealing with lots of water, here and in Florida. I hope you all stayed dry and safe and remain so.
There are lots of reasons to look forward to November, one of which is that our lamb and poultry will be back in stock. Stay tuned via our online pre-order form at https://thepasturage.com/order where we keep everything up to date.
Tootles,
Julie

Yaaaay!! Rain!!! I hope the tomatoes survive! They are not rain lovers
this late in the season. I will bring what I have, no promises this
week. Everything else is doing well. The spinach is popping up, I hope
the rain doesn’t affect it badly. We are building a shade cover for the
beds, let’s hope it helps for the fall rain.
I hope to have kiwis and apples again this fall. We don’t raise a lot of
these and they can be hit or miss as we don’t spray the apples at all
and the bugs do love them. It seems there is not a lot of damage this
year from them so we may be good. The kiwis don’t seem to have any
problems like that, but they are tasty! We keep checking them for
ripeness. Fingers crossed!

MARKET NEWS

It may feel like summer this week but changes are ahead for us. The garden is definitely almost finished but we’re going to plant some greens this week for harvest in about a month to 6 weeks. The groundhog shouldn’t be able to get these! Let’s hope the warmer weather hangs on for many more weeks. Gotta love a late frost!
The first winter squash came last week and there will be more this week. Tomatoes are slowing down, cherry size are about out. If you’d like some for salsa or to can or freeze, text me for prices. The peppers are getting really colored with the cooler nights.
If you’d like to reserve something, please text me at 734 945 0720 and I will let you

Blackbird Farm of Coopersville
You can continue to find our produce on the lakeshore at both the Grand Haven and Muskegon Health Hutt locations, with deliveries made Friday afternoon. (note: if stocks are low on things please let Health Hutt know so we can increase what we bring them!)
Our produce will also be available at two locations in Grand Rapids: the Fulton Street Farmers’ Market on Friday mornings and the Creston Farmers’ Market on alternating Saturday mornings.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR How to Pre-Order
1. Look over the list. Each vendor has a unique deadline for when they need to receive your pre-order depending on their product. Send your pre-order by email to each vendor you want to order from, within their required deadlines.
2. Vendors will respond back by no later than Friday before market day with an order confirmation and an invoice that in most cases will allow you to pre-pay for your order. If a vendor is not set up to take payment online they will accept checks (preferred) or cash on market day pickup.
