New Local Chapter of Weston A Price Foundation!

The co-founders of Nourishing the Lakeshore of West Michigan, the new Muskegon based chapter of the Weston A Price Foundation®, will be at Sweetwater this week.  Mark Christianson and Lisa Middlecamp-Lowder, Ph.D. will be available to answer your questions about our new local chapter of this non-profit organization.  Based on the teachings of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston A. Price, the Foundation seeks to return nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism.

Maple Moon Farm of Shelby

From the hoophouse: Thanks to the sunshine we were able to pick lots of greens.  This may be the last of them for a little while (we will be replanting soon).  Please come early to make sure you get what you want.  We have kale, beet greens, swiss chard, spinach, and lettuce.

Veggies in storage: Potatoes, garlic, onions, and winter squash.

Jam:  We still have a limited amount of our honey sweetened strawberryjam and grape jelly.  Our home grown fruit sweetened with a  touch of local honey-a wonderful spread!

Herbal salves: Wildcrafted herbs from our land blended with organic oils and local bee’s wax make for healthy salves.  Mike’s Muscle Relaxer, Rob’s Relief(Poison Ivy Remedy), and Mama’s All-Purpose Salve.  Have you tried one yet?

Our steers are in large pens for the winter so they get outdoors and exercise.  They are getting all our quality hay they can eat, plus a little home-grown and ground- on-the-farm grain mostly in winter. Feeding cows small amounts of good grains are like humans eating small portions of dessert.  It’s ok for them as long as grass and legumes are their main diet.  The steers are hung to age and processed by Ebel’s Meats in Falmouth, a family-run USDA operation.

ORGANIC OLIVE OIL from Palestine! 500 ML Bottles.  Organic, Extra Virgin and Cold Pressed.  This oil is imported by Higher Grounds Coffee.

HIGHER GROUNDS COFFEE in 1# bags.  Certified organic, Fair Trade. Various types, beans or ground, dark or light roast, full caf, half caf or decaf. Try a cup at the Sweetwater Market table!

Creswick Farms of Ravenna

Pasture Raised, Antibiotic & Hormone Free, Artisanal Meats

News! Beginning this week, Steve & Char, our Muskegon Farmers Market vendors, will be attending Sweetwater Mkt. Diana will still process Sweetwater pre-orders and will return as our representative in Spring, when Steve & Char return to Muskegon.

Please note: We will be revising our product list to include more products than before, the list below is just a sampling of what we will have on hand at Sweetwater this Saturday!

Lastly:

We are happy to announce that in recognition of our quality, authenticity and contribution to the sustainability of the food supply of West Michigan, we have been awarded the “Snail of Approval” by Slow Foods West Michigan! It doesn’t change anything, it’s just something cool we wanted to share with you!!
