MARCH Schedule: CLOSED March 2nd. OPEN March 9th.
We will make a decision this Saturday about how soon we will return to market every week – stay posted!
Apron Lady – Please send cards!
Our market maven, the Apron Lady Lucille Price had a fall at her home and broke her femur. Surgery was successful and doctors said it could have been much worse and are confident she’ll make a complete recovery, in time. Please send her a get well note to: Lucille Price, 13120 Mason Dr, Grant, 49327 Thanks!
Music at the Market this Saturday: Swingtooth!
Swingtooth duo Lee and David Middleman will return, playing a unique blend of jazzy “genre visiting” tunes. And featuring the players’ own homemade instruments. The guitars are the stars– backs and sides cut from the same billets of quartersawn cherry. Each player hand-fashioned, to their own needs, one unique guitar, forever bound to the other. https://www.facebook.com/Swingtooth
Attending this week’s market:
Shady Side Farm of Holland
Mike from Shady Side Farm will be at Saturday’s market with his certified organic dry beans. He will also have wool socks and mittens along for those who have cold feet and hands. This week’s special will be Yellow Indian Woman beans. Yellow Indian Woman Beans are on the Slow Food USA Ark of Taste list. They hold their shape well when cooked, and have a creamy texture. This week the 2-lb. bags will be available for $10, regularly $11.50.
Maple Moon Farm of Shelby
Veggies: This week we have Red La Soda potatoes and the last of our Russet potatoes. Fresh dug winter carrots! We are hoping to get in the hoop and pick today. Due to the uncertainty of the sunshine, we are not taking pre-orders on greens.
Herbals: teas, salves, creams, and lip balms. Do you want something herbal we didn’t make this year? Let us know!
PORK PRE-ORDERS: We are selling our pork through pre-orders only. Pasture raised and non-GMO. Our pigs run around under old apple trees, swim in the pond and wallow in the pond’s muddy edges; our pigs live a high quality life, which makes for high quality food. We have breakfast sausage, cottage bacon, Canadian bacon, and sliced bacon. Please email maplemoonfarm@gmail.com by Friday evening with your order. We have plenty of sausage available, but the bacon is selling quickly!
Earthscape Farm of Hesperia
VEGGIES ~ Butternut WINTER SQUASH – the final crate. Cabbage – red, smooth green, and Savoy. Potatoes ~ Red Norland, White (Kennebec, Russet, Bintje, Augusta). We have really nice ones and some seconds. Garlic.
Eggs ~ our own, and we will be selling Nic and Carolyn’s (Crow Feather Farm) eggs, too.
The BOBIER BEEF Story ~ Our steers and cows were born on our Farm, as were their great-great-great Grandmothers. We’ve been doing rotational pastures since the 70’s. We only buy bulls for breeding, and they come from reputable farmers in Michigan. Our cows raise their own calves until they are weaned at about 9 months. We raise our own hay, plus what we buy comes from our own neighborhood so we know how it was grown. Our cattle have access to 3-5 acre yards through the winter, with some barn access, fresh water, bedding straw, and all the hay they can eat. The steers get minimal amounts of homegrown and ground grain during the colder months (like Dessert!). We think this makes our beef tasty and tender, with all the benefits of grass-fed beef, too!
At the market this week:
We have a large supply of meaty and marrowy SOUP BONES again this week. Winter is the time to make bone broth.
Ground beef 1 lb pkgs, or our ground special below.

Saving Face Organics of Fruitport
Less than two years ago Susie Meyers became concerned about all the unknown chemicals in her body care products. She started to make her own, and then give samples away. Reaction was immediate and so overwhelmingly positive she started making cleansers, make-ups, masks, scrubs and lotions.
This Saturday Only! Did you know? Regular soaps can be very harsh, stripping us of our natural acid mantle and aging us faster. It is also a misconception that for oily skin we should dry our face out with products that contain alcohol. When we do this, our face creates even more sebum trying to replace what it lost. SFO Facial Cleanser is gentle and kind to the skin. It does not contain soap, alcohol or any harsh ingredients or chemicals. Regularly $12, but for one day only Feb 23 at Sweetwater Market, these will be on sale for $10!
Pet Chef Lakeshore
We will not be present this Saturday. However dog/cat food pre-orders can be picked up at the market through Amy Oak. Orders can be placed by calling Barb at 231-288-9805, or email petcheflakeshore@gmail.com and Amy will have your order available at the market between 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. If you can’t make it to market during that time frame, Barb will personally deliver your order the following week. Pet Chef Lakeshore will return to market on March 9.
Friends of the Market
If you would like to become a Friend of the Market for a suggested donation of $20.00, which entitles you to a free cup of coffee at every market you attend for a full year, please see me at the market this Saturday! We will also have Higher Grounds Coffee by the Cup for a suggested donation of $1.00.
