The Ware Farm of Bear Lake

Last week for Certified Organic Strawberries! We SO appreciate the Ware Farm traveling the distance to bring us the best strawberries in West Michigan! Certified Organic for over a decade now, Bernie & Sandee Ware have always specialized in Heirloom varieties of strawberries, happy that they are able to offer fruit that is safe for people, kids and the planet!

The weather has been much more cooperative this year, but please come early if you want some!

Leon and Sharon Coblentz have been a grade A Milk producer since 2003, with a herd of around 160 milking goats that are a colorful mix of Nubians, Lamanchas, Saanens and Alpines. They have added a brand new cheese plant to their operation, and will be bringing several varieties to the market this Saturday, including fresh Chevre, Feta and their newest specialty cheese, Tomme. Laughing Tree Bakery of Hart

Fun had by all at family camp last week down by clan Muller’s favorite mud hole.  That behind us, we’ll bake again this week and for the rest of the summer here.  We’ll kick things off with a little Pumpernickel Rye, Chili Cheddar, Orange Mud Brownies, and an assortment of scones and cookies for everyone to enjoy alongside the abundance of produce available at all our market locations this Saturday.  We look forward to seeing you all again!

BREADS: Each week we bake our seven scrumptious weekly breads (listed below) as well as one or more specialty breads.  Please consult the schedule below to find out when we are making your favorite specialty bread!

GRANOLA!  We make two different varieties of granola: Mountain Crunch Granola (pure vanilla, toasted almonds, and organic coconut oil) and Laughing Tree Peanut Butter Granola (all-natural PB, pure vanilla, and Michigan honey)

Pumpernickel Rye A new twist on an old Eastern European standard.  Cracked Rye and Caraway seed in a dark, chewy loaf. $6.00

Mrs. Moose’s Wangdangdoodlers $2.25 each-Chunks of chocolate and walnuts give this cookie texture into which one can sink their teeth with great fervor.

We will be at market with felting kits, wool roving, certified organic beans, and Grassfields Farm’s awesome cheese! This week the October Bean is our Special of the Week. The 2-lb. bags will be available for $10, regularly $11.50 and the 1-lb. bags will be available for $5.50, regularly $6.00. October Beans are a member of the cranberry bean family. They are wonderful in soups and stews and salads. The cheese flavors we will have along this week include: Country Dill, Edam, Garlic & Onion, Gouda, Lamont Cheddar, Leyden and Polkton Corners. Crock pots are great for summer meals – they don’t heat up the kitchen, and some slow-cooked meats are the most flavorful, as well as most economical.
