We were amazed at the turnout for the last market, and are working on making the traffic flow as smoothly as possible, all while adhering to social distance mandates. Thanks to everyone who stopped out and stayed patient. For this Saturday we will widen the space of the market and have two lanes for all vendors.Here are the steps to take to secure your place in line this coming Saturday, April 18th:
1. Look over the list below. Each vendor has a unique deadline for when they need to receive your pre-order depending on their product. Send your pre-order to each vendor you want to order from, within their required deadlines.
2. Vendors will respond back by no later than Friday April 10th with an order confirmation and an invoice that in most cases will allow you to pre-pay for your order. If a vendor is not set up to take payment online they will accept checks (preferred) or cash in a sealed envelope on market day pickup.
3. Market Day. Important! Please see the attached map with arrows indicating which way you should plan to approach the market.
Please plan to line up and stay in your vehicle. We will also have signs to help point you in the right direction.
4. Using a sheet of paper at least 8.5 x 11, please list all of the vendors you have orders with in black marker (or something as visible), large enough for vendors to see it clearly. Please put your first & last name at the top of the list. Tape or hold up the list to the side window or front windshield where it will be most visible. Note: Feel free to make two signs, one for each side, that way vendors don’t have to cross back and forth.
5. Have your trunk, or designated area of your car ready to receive your goods.
6. As you drive through, each vendor will bring your order to your vehicle and place it in the trunk or other designated space, and collect payment if you have not paid in advance. Again, please have checks (preferred) or cash in a sealed envelope with your name and the name of the vendor on the outside of it.

Spring is when eggs are in season! We have chicken, duck, and goose eggs for sale. Our poultry is free range and has certified organic feed available from neighboring Heritage Organics, where our son Aaron works and mixes the feed, along with other responsibilities. Chicken eggs are $5/ dozen, duck eggs are $8/ dozen, and goose eggs are $2 a piece, 2 for $3, or $18 per dozen. Our chicken eggs are all brown.

Our wheat is ideal for pancakes, muffins, and quick breads. Whole wheat berries can be ground at home using a blender or food processor. Flour can be stone milled on-farm under the Michigan Cottage Food Law by request for an additional $0.50 per pound. Once milled it is best to store flour in the refrigerator or freezer.

What is vermicompost?
Wormies is a local Worm Farm producing the liveliest, freshest vermicompost for your soil. Vermicompost (worm manure) are used as a powerful soil amendment and an all-natural fertilizer, containing rich microbiological colonies that help fight soil-borne plant diseases and repel insects.
Worm castings are water-soluble, allowing plants to quickly and easily absorb essential nutrients and trace minerals. When the waste nutrients pass through the worm’s digestive tract, it forms a coating around it which allows for the nutrients to “time release” into the soil. Nutrients are readily available to plant material over a greater length of time and will not burn even the most delicate plants. A small amount of goes a long way!

Recommended application,
– For existing gardens and potted plants 1/4 to 1/2 cup per square foot.
– For new garden beds or pots, 10-20% of vermicompost into your soil mix.
