Blackbird Farm of Coopersville
We are looking forward to seeing you again at this Saturday’s market with all manner of good things to eat!
This week we are again offering for pre-order our pre-selected, pre-packed bags of fresh vegetables. These bags are something akin to our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares. We assemble bags of our highest quality veggies based on whatever is fresh and in season for that week. In the bag, we aim to have some combination and quantity of at least five different vegetables with a combined value around $25. We also include a brief note from Farmer Greg and a farm-tested recipe. Each bag costs $20. This week’s bag will likely contain a combination of some of the following: lettuce, kale, mini-cabbages, radishes, scallions, herbs, summer squash, and zucchini. To order your Blackbird Farms Veggie Bag, please email us at hello.blackbirdfarms@gmail.com by noon on Thursday. We will then send you an invoice via Square. Payment can also be made via cash or check (payable to Blackbird Farms).
In addition, this season we are experimenting with offering four-week-long trial shares for folks who are curious about the CSA model but not quite ready to commit to a full season. These will be offered in four different four-week sessions (basically the months of August, September, and October), with pick-up on the farm on Thursday evenings. Trial shares will be offered as either full shares ($140) or small shares ($75). The sign-up form is available online.
We also plan to have many items for walk-up sales–watch for more information in Friday’s newsletter.
Thanks so much! We’re looking forward to seeing friends old and new this Saturday!

Funny Farm of Grant
The garden is certainly growing well this year, not too many hiccups so
far… In the next few weeks we’ll have lots of new items for sale.
Included will be compact cabbage, great for small families. Later we’ll
have large ones, great for kraut and lots of broccoli, kohlrabis,
cauliflower, Chinese cabbage, onions, scallions, okra, peppers, winter
squash and some surprises, too. Tomatoes are doing well also and I’ll
have those orange cherry and new snacking cherry tomatoes in lots of
colors and flavors, and slicers and colors for eating out of hand. So
that’s what’s ahead for the season. I’ll update on Friday what I’ll have
for market on Saturday. As always, please text me by 6pm if there’s
anything you’d like to reserve for you. 734 945 0720 and I will text you
back when I get your message. Thanks for all your support, it means a lot.

Hello :-),
It was definitely a good thing that we moved the chick hens into the coop when we did, because the storms last week blew their structure over twice!

I will try to get totals emailed out by 9:30pm on Friday. If you don’t get a response from me, please contact me. We accept cash or check payable to Pine Row Farm.

The Pasturage of Montague
Guess what? We have turkeys on the farm now. They will be ready for Thanksgiving. We are enjoying their quirky habits. We also have feeder pigs. It is the beginning step in our quest to find the right pig breed for us. And we are officially in high summer as the cicadas lull us into a stupor in the afternoon that makes me really wish siestas were a part of our culture. Final note: we are out of andouille and chorizo. As always, our pre-order form is the best way to see what we have and get what you want! Find it here: https://form.jotform.com/
