DRIVE-THROUGH Pre-Order Market
Saturday, May 30th, 2020
Limited One Hour Market: 10:00am to 11:00am
Mercy Health Lakes Village
6401 Harvey St. at US31/Pontaluna Rd.
Thank you all for your cooperation in helping make this One Hour Pre-Order Drive Up Market work! With over 590 positive cases of Covid19 and 30 deaths in our community it is a sobering reminder that we must continue to do everything we can to keep all of us safe and still enjoy fresh local foods. Like all area farmers markets we are now requiring all vendors to wear masks. If you are new to the market please read the directions below and see the map.
Here are the steps to take to secure your place in line this coming Saturday, May 30th:
1. Look over the list below. Each vendor has a unique deadline for when they need to receive your pre-order depending on their product. Send your pre-order to each vendor you want to order from, within their required deadlines.
2. Vendors will respond back by no later than Friday before market day with an order confirmation and an invoice that in most cases will allow you to pre-pay for your order. If a vendor is not set up to take payment online they will accept checks (preferred) or cash in a sealed envelope on market day pickup.
3. Market Day. Important! Please see the attached map with arrows indicating which way you should plan to approach the market. We have 3 sections opened now and are refining the traffic pattern plan every week!
Please plan to line up and stay in your vehicle. We will also have signs to help point you in the right direction.
4. Please note! Using a sheet of paper at least 8.5 x 11, please list all of the vendors you have orders with in black marker (or something as visible), large enough for vendors to see it clearly. Please put your first & last name at the top of the list. Tape or hold up the list to the side window or front windshield where it will be most visible. It’s very helpful if you make two signs, one for each side, so that way vendors don’t have to cross back and forth in front of your vehicle to see your list.
5. Have your trunk, or designated area of your car ready to receive your goods. As weather warms (if it ever does) think about bringing a cooler for frozen, refrigerated items.
6. As you drive through, each vendor will bring your order to your vehicle and place it in the trunk or other designated space, and collect payment if you have not paid in advance. Again, please have checks (preferred) or cash in a sealed envelope with your name and the name of the vendor on the outside of it.

Blackbird Farms of Coopersville
Due to exceptional demand, we are nearing the end of our plant inventory for the 2020 season. As a result, this week will almost surely be the last one for plant orders.
Because of our limited inventory, this week we’re asking you not to use our online form but, rather, to take a look at our regularly updated plant list (link below) and e-mail us with your order–hello.blackbirdfarms@gmail.com—by 10:00 am on Friday. That should help to ensure that you receive the plants you want–and that we are able to stay on top of our inventory numbers now that we are at the end of our plant sale season. Thank you so much for your support of local, sustainable agriculture!

Honey
We have the following honey, in plastic squeeze bottles:

We are pleased to announce that we have purchased 8 additional hives, scheduled to arrive this week, that will hopefully increase our supply of honey this fall.
Fall Whole Broiler Chicken
We haven’t done these for sale since the first year we started selling at Sweetwater. We were concerned about getting chicks, but 2 weeks ago our order of 70 came through, making us feel confident it’s realistic. These will be whole, bagged, young chickens raised on certified organic feed from Heritage Organics. We will take orders, then once chicks arrive, deposits are due, with the balance due at delivery. Please include your phone number with orders. We will assess demand and decide if we move forward with these.
Fall Pork
We haven’t raised pork for sale since 2010. We have located feeders for late June. They will be raised on certified organic feed from Heritage Organics, and sold only by halves. Please include your phone number with orders.
We are excited to announce that we have also paid the deposit for our Idaho Pasture Pig breeding stock that we’re on a waiting list for. We are tentatively scheduled to pick them up in October. We are excited to offer them, born and raised on the farm, by halves only, sometime in 2021.
We hope you and your families are all doing well, and remain grateful for your commitment to supporting local, small farms,
