Our freedom ranger chickens will be available next week and later! While not a heritage bird, our hope is that they will be a tasty bird with qualities like heritage birds on a larger frame. In our experience the heritage had more dark meat, more flavor, greater texture. All great things!
Our chickens are raised on grass and alfalfa pasture. They get lots of sunshine and wind, leftover veggies, and non-gmo feed.
Stuart Family Organics of Custer
Jim Stuart, founder and CEO of Stuart Family Organics, grew up on his parents’ farm eighteen miles southeast of Ludington, Michigan. For over 25 years he has made his own bread and other baked goods from his own hard red wheat, working at farming mainly during the summers, teaching English in Scottville, Michigan during the rest of the year.
Now retired from teaching, Jim’s farming is certified organic and his children, Meranda, Wesley and Kyle (all in their twenties), have returned home to help with the farm and selling products at farmers’ markets. These products include the Powerhouse Muffins, several variations of tofu cookies, which usually surprise customers with their tastiness, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, hard red whole wheat flour, and the wheat grain or berries from which the flour is grown.
Products at this week’s market include:
100% Organic Hard Red Winter Wheat Flour
100% Organic Hard Red Winter Wheat Berries
Gluten Free Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
Vegan Tofu Cookies
Vegan One Stop Bran Muffins
Cranberry Coconut Cookies
Meadow View Goat Dairy of Fremont
NEW! Colby Goat Cheese!
We’ve had many requests to try a Colby cheese and we think you’ll like this new addition to our cheese line! Stop by and try a sample!
Chevreʹ Fresh chevre with a nice spreading consistency, perfect for sandwich toppings and cooking. Cherry Capital Foods of Traverse City says ” The chèvre produced by Meadow View has a pitch perfect acidity on the palate that becomes gently sweet and milky with a grassy note on the finish.”
Seasoned Chevreʹ
Our fresh Chevre available in your favorite flavorings: Blueberry Vanilla (great on a morning bagel!) Hickory-smoked bacon Bits, Garlic, Italian Herb, & Hot Pepper
Feta
A smooth and creamy feta which is low in salt and rich in fresh goat milk flavor. The brining process gives feta cheese a salty, tangy flavor and a crumbly consistency. Feta cheese can be served as a table cheese, used in baking savory dishes, or served as an appetizer or in salads. The classic Greek salad is made with Feta cheese. In crumbles or cubes for easy slicing.
Tomme de Fremont
Our first aged cheese is quickly becoming a customer favorite! Developed from a French recipe, Tomme is a lower fat mold ripened cheese, aged at least 60 days. This gives the cheese a stronger flavor & firmer texture than the fresh Chevres, perfect for slicing.
Dutch Kase
A Meadow View Dairy original! If you are looking for a nicely aged but milder version of our Tomme, this is the cheese for you. Vacuum sealed without mold and aged at least 60 days.
Marco Similar to Dutch Kase but pasteurized and vacuum sealed, it comes in Pepper, Sage, Italian & Garlic.

Coffee and Tea! Check out our expanding line of organic coffees and teas! This week we have 5 new teas! Come check them out! Next week we will have a new coffee to try! Check out our expanding line of equipment! Brew better coffee at home!
Come and get a fresh brewed-to-order cup of our freshly roasted coffee! Get a ceramic cup to enjoy at the market for $1 or a to-go cup for $3.
As always, we sell our coffee by the ounce so you can get the perfect amount to use while it is the freshest. We also have gift certificates; the perfect gift for a coffee lover!
In the roaster this week:
Featured Coffee of the Week! Papua New Guinea FTO – Low acid, with notes of caramel and nuts. A good, strong medium-dark roast. Check out our facebook page to learn more about our Coffee of the Week program.
Ethiopia Amaro Gayo Org. – A deliciously fruity light roast, this coffee has notes of strawberry and brown sugar. The aroma reminds me of fresh strawberry pie!
Colombia FTO – Slightly bitter, but with a nice balance of sweetness, this coffee has notes of toasted marshmallow and roasted nuts. We are roasting this to a medium-dark level, for those who like a little edge to the cup.
Guatemala FTO – A deliciously sweet, low acid coffee with milk chocolate and caramel notes, and a full body. Roasted to a medium level, this coffee is great with or without milk.
Decaffeinated Peru FTO – rich and sweet, with chocolate and caramel notes. A very delicious decaf! This coffee was decaffeinated using the Mountain Water Process. It is a natural, chemical free process which allows the bean to retain much of its unique flavor.
Come taste the fresh difference!
Coffee is seasonal, so expect some variety. We try not to roast too much extra in order to keep the coffee fresh every week.
Call or text (231)742-0229 or email titus@theroaringmouse.com to order in advance, and we will have it bagged up and ready for you. Advance orders will ensure that we don’t run out of your favorite coffee before you get some!

Laughing Tree Bakery of Hart
Greetings from Laughing Tree Brick Oven Bakery— we’ll be back next Saturday!
Earthscape Farm of Hesperia
Earthscape Farm will not be at Market this Saturday. We are trying to not work quite as hard or as much, but the days are still filled and long. We’ll be back next week. Veggies coming in: Large onions, beans, summer squashes, beets with greens. We harvested our garlic; there’s a picture on facebook! It looks great with some super-giant bulbs – largest we’ve ever grown, I think. Beef, coffee, oil, and veggies are always for sale off the farm, but do call or email first to make sure we have what you want. Have a great week!
Simply Soaps of Spring Lake
