Blackbird Farm of Coopersville
October on the farm is the time of winding down. Each harvest day empties the fields a little more, and as they empty, we begin our end-of-season clean up. Even so, there are a few jobs that, rather than put the past year to bed, look ahead to next one: for example, my favorite fall task, planting garlic, really the first job of next season and a reminder that the farm’s year is not a point-to-point sprint but a big wheel, and with each turn we’re bound to cover just a little more ground.
This week we likely will be bringing:
LAST, LAST CHANCE (I mean it this time) for tomatoes: red slicers, mini-Romas, and San Marzano paste tomatoes.
Broccoli
Kohlrabi
Napa cabbages
Storage cabbages
Mini-cabbages
